Herbie Hancock

Pianist, bandleader, and composer, Herbert Jeffrey "Herbie" Hancock is an icon of modern music whose creative path has mirrored almost every development in acoustic and electronic jazz since 1960. A native of Chicago, Hancock performed for six years with the Miles Davis Second Quintet. He is also recognized for his solo works, including Cantaloupe Island, Maiden Voyage, and Chameleon. Hancock composed his first soundtrack for the film, Blow-Up, in 1966. In 1986, he won an Academy Award for Best Music, Original Score, for Round Midnight.
