From his roots in Kansas City, Parker's mature playing style revolutionized jazz, making him - with others on the New York jazz scene of the 1940s - one of the founding fathers of bebop. His compositions, including Billie's Bounce, Anthropology, and Confirmation, with their unique approach to rhythm, melody, and harmony, had a profound impact on his contemporaries.
