In 1966, he achieved major crossover success with his debut album, Stand Back! Here Comes Charley Musselwhite’s Southside Band, featuring a signature cover of Duke Pearson’s “Cristo Redenptor.” Born in Kosciusko, Mississippi, Musselwhite has guested on albums by Bonnie Raitt, Eddie Vedder, Tom Waits, and Cyndi Lauper. John Lee Hooker was the best man at his marriage in 1981.
