Wes Montgomery

( 1923-1968 )

One of the greatest influences among modern jazz guitarists, Wes Montgomery began playing guitar at age 19. After an established career in his hometown of Indianapolis, Indiana, he was discovered in 1959; the following year he received wide acclaim with the release of The Incredible Jazz Guitar of Wes Montgomery. He received Grammy Awards for Bumpin' and Going Out of My Head, and Grammy nominations for Eleanor Rigby, Down Here on the Ground, and Willow Weep for Me.
